About me
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but you don't have to face life's challenges alone. I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.
I am an experienced, trauma-informed integrative counsellor with over 12 years of counselling experience and more than 31 years of supporting people experiencing mental health challenges. I am an accredited registrant with the National counselling and psychotherapy society (NCPS). I am passionate about helping people heal, recognise their own strengths, and realise their potential. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and that, together, we can uncover the answers that already exist within you.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to you as an individual. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centred and Humanistic approaches, Existential therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt Therapy. This allows me to adapt therapy to meet your unique needs, experiences, and goals.
I have extensive experience supporting people who have experienced trauma, including sexual abuse, domestic abuse, childhood trauma, and post-traumatic stress. I have also worked in the substance misuse field supporting people with drug and alcohol issues, whether they were in recovery or seeking support to make changes in their lives. Alongside this, I work with many of the difficulties that impact people, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, relationship issues, work related issues, low self-esteem, life transitions, and emotional wellbeing.
Throughout my career, I have worked with people experiencing complex mental health conditions, including Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective disorder, PTSD, complex PTSD, depression, and anxiety. My experience also includes, supporting Military veterans, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and neurodivergent individuals. Whatever your background or experiences, I strive to provide an inclusive, respectful, and accepting therapeutic environment where you feel heard, understood and valued.
Clients often describe me as calm, kind, patient, and easy to talk to. They tell me they feel listened to, understood, and supported, even when discussing painful or difficult experiences. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my work, and I believe that feeling genuinely heard can be the foundation for meaningful change.
Whether you are looking to understand yourself better, overcome the impact of trauma, manage difficult emotions, improve your relationships, or find a way forward through life's challenges, I will work alongside you with empathy, honesty, and compassion. Together, we will identify your goals, explore what matters most to you, and help you develop the confidence and resilience to move towards the life you want to live.
