Leanne Balmont
Counsellor and Psychotherapist
I’m Leanne and I’m a Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
I offer a warm, safe, confidential, non-judgemental and empathetic space for you to be your
true self and talk freely about whatever issue or concern has brought you to reach out, I will
support you and listen carefully to your needs and concerns.
I feel it takes strength to take the first step in reaching out and have the upmost respect for
anyone contacting me for support.
At the essence of the good work that can be achieved through therapy, is a good therapeutic
relationship where we respect and trust each other. Building this safe foundation, enables us
to work together and explore what’s happening in your life that’s brought you to this point.
Depending on your preference, I’m able to work with you on a short-term or long-term basis.
I have experience of working with many issues to date, including trauma, grief and loss, low
self-esteem, stress, anxiety and depression. Of course, the list can be extensive and
intertwining but my aim is always to prioritise you at the core of our work together, at the
pace best for you and support you with the upmost respect, care and compassion.
I’ve been trained as an integrative counsellor, meaning I can draw upon differing theories to
adapt to the type of counselling that best suits your individual needs. These include person-
centred (considering your emotions in the here and now), psychodynamic (exploring past
experiences impacting your current feelings) and CBT (supporting goals and change).
About me
I’m an honest, caring and compassionate person, enthused and passionate about my work.
I’ve always enjoyed and had a passion for helping those around me and felt naturally drawn
to people needing care and support whether it be family, friends or acquaintances.
My career before counselling has mainly been working in schools. A large part of my work
involved supporting students of all ages with their emotional issues, helping them process
their thoughts and feelings, to help them gain better clarity and understanding.
I naturally found myself doing similar work with my colleagues and enduring personal loss
was a profound moment in realising my natural calling…It was the right time to train and
work towards the role I’ve always dreamt of doing and here I am!
The journey to becoming a counsellor has been a privilege. I’ve found my life experiences
whether good or bad have positively impacted my work where at times, I’m able to relate to
similar challenges but understand and appreciate that we all have our own, unique way of
being and managing in life.
