About

Nigel Hodge

Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)

Several years ago, when volunteering with a telephone listening service, I realised the difference that can be made to people when they have someone to talk to who listens and cares. I also became aware of the importance of a safe confidential space within which concerns may be explored. I have varied life experiences that include working in industry, education and science. I work mainly as a person-centred counsellor but integrate other approaches when appropriate and helpful. My work is often informed by Compassion Focused Therapy, which acknowledges that there can be a disconnect between how we think and how we feel and aims to help those who struggle with shame and self-criticism. When working with clients, I place a great value on mind-body connection and the value of mind and body awareness.
